Another code Rinnai names differently on this generation: here it is the SV0, SV1, SV2 or SV3 solenoid valve, the individual solenoids on the gas valve, rather than the single gas solenoid the SENSEI series reports. One step is worth knowing about because it points somewhere else entirely: Rinnai asks the technician to check for moisture in the plastic tube running from the bottom of the combustion box to the gas valve, and if moisture is there, to find out whether the heat exchanger is leaking or condensate is running back down the vent.
RH180 Hybrid — Solenoid valve circuit fault
The drive circuit to the gas solenoid valves is faulty. Rinnai names them individually on the RH180 — SV0, SV1, SV2 and SV3 — and the remedy is to check the wiring harness to all of the solenoids for damage and loose connections, then measure the resistance of each valve coil.
SENSEI — Gas solenoid valve fault
The board is not seeing the gas solenoid valve respond. Rinnai's first check is deliberately mundane: the single DIP switch on the PC board must be in the OFF position, because in the ON position it electrically shuts off the main gas solenoid and produces exactly this code. After that it is harness checks, resistance and voltage at connector D, and then replacing the gas valve.
SENSEI RX — Gas solenoid valve fault
The board is not seeing the gas solenoid valve respond.
