The sensor reading the temperature of water entering the unit is out of range. Rinnai's procedure is the thermistor routine — isolate and drain, remove the sensor, clean scale off it, check it against the resistance curve, and refit it with the O-ring intact and lubricated.
SENSEI — Inlet water temperature thermistor fault
The sensor reading the cold water entering the heater is out of range. Like code 41, this one does not stop the unit: Rinnai notes that if the inlet thermistor is open or disconnected the heater keeps running and flashes code 51, alternating with the set temperature, until the cause is cleared. With no code 34 on this generation, the inlet sensor at 51 and the pair at 32 and 33 are the whole water-side sensor set. Every temperature decision the heater makes comes from those three, which is why an inlet fault that lets the unit keep running is still worth clearing.
SENSEI RX — Inlet water temperature thermistor fault
The sensor reading the temperature of the cold water entering the heater is out of range. Like code 41, this one does not stop the unit: Rinnai notes that if the inlet thermistor is open or disconnected the heater keeps running and flashes code 51, alternating with the set temperature, until the cause is cleared.
