Rinnai SENSEI Code 21
Data transfer error. Only relevant after service: the PC board was replaced and the transfer of settings from the old board did not complete, so the unit is running on incomplete parameters. On the SENSEI the fallback is manual — all 14 parameters programmed by hand from Rinnai's PC board replacement instructions (document 100000553).

Nothing has failed and nothing needs buying, but the technician has to come back. This is unfinished work on the repair you already paid for, not a new fault — say so when you call.

What the manual says

What you can safely check
- Check whether the PC board was replaced recently. This code essentially only appears after that work.
- Contact whoever did the replacement and quote the code — they will know the data transfer did not complete.
- Do not try to program parameters yourself: a wrong model or gas-type value creates a real safety problem.
Frequently asked questions
How many parameters are there on a SENSEI?
Fourteen. Rinnai's instruction is that if the board-to-board data transfer fails, all fourteen are programmed manually from the replacement instructions supplied with the new board.
