Loose jumper. A jumper on the circuit board is loose. Noritz's description and its remedy say the same thing in different words — "loosed jumper", and "jumper is loose" — with nothing further. This code does not exist on the first-generation NRCP at all. Manual reset.

Frequently asked questions
My NRCP111 shows Er42 and this page says it should not exist.
Check the model number again. Er42 is documented for the NRCP1112-DV and NRCP982-DV Eco TOUGH only; the NRCP111-DV and NRCP98-DV table has no Er42 and does have an Er46, which this generation drops. The two model numbers differ by one character.
