Rinnai SENSEI RX Code 18
Gas valve adjustment limit reached. A SENSEI RX code with no equivalent on older Rinnai units. The Smart-Sense gas valve trims the air-to-fuel ratio continuously, within a range that Rinnai deliberately limits per gas type. Code 18 means the valve has run all the way to its gas-rich or gas-lean limit and has no adjustment left. Rinnai's stated causes are the supplied gas being wrong, the gas type parameter being wrong, incorrect gas valve parameters, or a disconnected flame rod wire.

The unit stopping at the limit is the protection working. What matters is why it drifted that far: the wrong fuel, wrong parameters, or a flame rod that is not reporting properly.
